In today’s environment of climate change, extreme weather events and intense bush and forest fires never before has there been such a need for a new innovative form of energy efficient housing. Domeshells have been designed to address these issues head on and provide a cost effective alternative to those new home builders who are conscious of the requirements of new innovative modern housing moving well into the 21st century.
Domeshells were inspired by the childhood experiences of one of its cofounders, Chris Brown. Chris grew up in South Africa and spent part of his childhood building rondavels with the Zulus. Now, years down the track, with 30 years experience in the building industry as a licensed builder, Chris along with his business partner John Curry, have now made their dream a reality.
Domeshells are domed buildings made from glass reinforced concrete, a core layer of polyurethane and an external layer of concrete. This combination has evolved over 10 years of research and development and has many benefits. These include fire resistance, category 5 cyclone rating, earthquake resistance (0.5g), energy efficiency (7.5 star), termite proof, low maintenance and fast construction. This all equates to cost savings both in the construction phase as well as the ongoing maintenance and running costs of the buildings.
The applications for Domeshells are also many and include complete homes, studio or guest rooms, holiday resorts, public buildings, underground housing, military applications, enviroments’ that experience extreme weather conditions and can also be used as an addition to your existing home.
Dome shells come in a number of standard sizes but the combinations and designs are limited only by the inventiveness of one’s imagination, as they can also be professionally designed to the client’s specifications.
Domeshells have been developed after nearly a decade of intensive research and development and are now available as BCA compliant dome houses, buildings and construction systems.
The most attractive, viable alternative to conventional buildings, Domeshells modular designs and patented building methods offer elegant solutions for any scale of project. But the remarkable benefits of Domeshells are what make them stand out most.
